I have so many Linux & Solaris PCs and Macs that I've taken the smart road to centralize all the data on a networked RAID5 array that gets an automatic full backup per night. I take NO chances with my data.

The first 8088 I had with dual full height 360k 5.25in floppies got me to type

copy a:*.* b:

every night just in case. I've never lost any data. Need some assistance designing a backup solution?

I had a backup drive at one point, an external firewire drive made by Maxtor. 80gb was enough then to backup what I needed. Now A 160gb internal SATA drive is in my desktop serving my desktop's backup needs.

The only data I've lost is Hero Lab character data. Of which hard copy in play versions have been printed out. I'd just need to dig up the data for the Innocents updated ghost rules and numina and add that into HL's database.

Once the laptop is back up and running that is.
